How-to
How to align Genie safety sensors
- Check that both sensor lights near the floor are on, one is usually steady, the other indicates alignment.
- Loosen the wing nut on the sensor with the blinking or off light.
- Gently tilt the sensor until its light becomes steady, then tighten the wing nut.
- Wipe both lenses clean of desert dust, which often causes false blocks.
- Test by closing the door, it should close fully without reversing.

Genie FAQs
Do you repair Genie openers?
Yes, all residential Genie models, including the logic boards, gears, sensors, and remotes. We find the real fault before quoting.
My Genie opener is old, repair or replace?
If the fault is a sensor, gear, or remote and the unit is otherwise sound, repair is usually the smart money. If it is worn out or lacks safety sensors, we will give you a replacement quote too.
My Genie won't close and the light blinks, why?
The safety sensors are misaligned or dusty. Clean and align the two photo-eyes near the floor, or we will repair the wiring or a failed sensor.
Can you replace a Genie with a quieter opener?
Yes. If you want maximum quiet, a belt-drive replacement is a big upgrade over an older Genie chain or screw drive. We will give you options.
How much to fix a Genie opener?
Most Genie repairs run $120 to $300 depending on the part. We quote the flat price before starting.
My Genie remote stopped working, what now?
Try a fresh battery, then reprogramming. We carry compatible remotes and keypads if yours needs replacing.
Why does my Genie grind?
Usually a worn drive gear or, on screw-drive models, a dry or worn screw. We can repair it or recommend a replacement if it is near end of life.
Can you add phone control to my Genie?
Newer Genie models support their app, and for some setups we can add a compatible smart controller. We will tell you what works with your unit.
My Genie runs but the door doesn't move, what's wrong?
Often a stripped gear or the door left on manual release. Both are common, affordable fixes.
Can you install a Genie I bought?
Yes, for a labor fee, and we will flag it if it is underpowered for your door.
Do you program Genie keypads and remotes?
Yes, keypads, remotes, and in-car buttons are programmed as part of the install or on a service visit.
Do you warranty Genie repairs?
Yes, parts carry the manufacturer warranty and our labor is backed by a workmanship warranty.
