Frayed cable caught early in Enterprise

Frayed cable caught early in Enterprise

A Southern Highlands homeowner noticed a fraying cable and called before it snapped. A quick, low-cost pair replacement prevented a stuck, crooked door.

A sharp-eyed homeowner in Southern Highlands spotted strands of wire poking out of a lift cable and, rather than waiting, called us. This is exactly the right move, a fraying cable is a warning that it will snap, usually leaving the door stuck and crooked and sometimes bending the tracks.

We found one cable badly frayed at the drum and the other beginning to wear. Because cables work as a pair and wear evenly, we replaced both and inspected the drums, which were still in good shape.

After re-seating the cables, setting even tension, and leveling the door, we cycled it to confirm smooth travel. The whole visit was quick and inexpensive, far cheaper than the off-track repair that a snapped cable would have caused.
