Garage Door Opener Repair and Installation in Las Vegas
Openers are where homeowners get oversold. We diagnose the actual fault first. Often it is a sensor, a remote, or a gear, not the whole unit.
Overview
Garage Door Opener Repair and Installation
From dead motors and bad sensors to quiet new Wi-Fi LiftMaster openers, we repair and install all major brands.
Not every opener problem means a new opener. A door that won't close while the light flashes is usually just misaligned safety sensors, a five-minute fix, not a $600 replacement. A stripped plastic gear is a cheap part. We fix what is fixable. When an opener is genuinely worn out, a modern LiftMaster belt-drive with myQ is quiet, strong, and lets you check and close the door from your phone, a real upgrade for Las Vegas homes where the garage is the main entrance.
Common problems we solve
- Opener hums or clicks but the door doesn't move
- Door won't close and the light blinks (sensor issue)
- Remote or keypad stopped working
- Loud grinding from the opener (stripped gear)
- Old, loud chain opener you want replaced with a quiet belt drive

Opener Repair & Install FAQs
My opener runs but the door doesn't move, what's wrong?
Usually a stripped drive gear or a disconnected trolley. The motor spins but nothing transfers to the door. The gear is an inexpensive part on most openers. Sometimes the door was simply left on the manual release, which we will check first.
My garage door won't close and the light blinks, how do I fix it?
That blink is the safety sensor system telling you the two photo-eyes near the floor are misaligned or blocked. Wipe the lenses, make sure nothing is in the beam, and check that both show a steady light. If they still won't sync, the wiring or a sensor may be bad, and we can repair that fast.
How much does a new garage door opener cost installed in Las Vegas?
A quality Wi-Fi LiftMaster belt-drive runs about $450 to $850 installed depending on horsepower and features like battery backup or wall-mount jackshaft designs. We will recommend the right size for your door rather than upselling the top model.
Should I repair my old opener or replace it?
If the opener is under about 10 years old and the fault is a sensor, gear, or board, repair is usually the smart money. If it is older, loud, lacks safety sensors, or needs an expensive board, a new quiet belt-drive with phone control is often the better value. We give you both numbers.
What's the best garage door opener for a Las Vegas home?
A belt-drive LiftMaster with myQ is our usual recommendation, quiet for attached garages, strong enough for the heat, and app-controlled so you can check and close the door from anywhere. For very heavy or high-lift doors, a wall-mounted jackshaft opener is excellent.
Can you add Wi-Fi or smartphone control to my garage?
Yes. Newer LiftMaster and Chamberlain openers have myQ built in. For some older openers we can add a compatible smart controller. We set up the app and make sure it works before we leave.
My remote stopped working. Is the opener broken?
Usually not. Start with a fresh battery. If that fails, the remote may need reprogramming or replacing, or the opener's antenna or receiver is the issue. We carry universal remotes and keypads and can reprogram on the spot.
Why is my opener suddenly so loud?
Old chain-drive openers get louder as the chain and gears wear. A worn drive gear can also grind. If you want it quiet, a belt-drive replacement makes a dramatic difference, especially with a bedroom over or beside the garage.
Do you install openers I bought myself?
Yes, we are happy to install a customer-supplied opener for a labor fee. That said, we will flag it if the unit is underpowered for your door, since the wrong horsepower wears out fast in the heat.
How long does opener installation take?
A straightforward replacement is usually 1.5 to 2.5 hours including programming, travel limits, sensor alignment, and testing. Jackshaft and battery-backup setups can take a bit longer.
Will a new opener work in a power outage?
Models with battery backup will, which is now required on new installs in many areas and very handy in Las Vegas. Without battery backup, you use the manual release rope to open the door by hand during an outage.
Do you program exterior keypads and car buttons?
Yes. We program wall keypads, handheld remotes, and your in-car HomeLink or Car2U buttons as part of the install, and we will gladly add or reprogram them on a service visit too.
