Garage Door Spring Repair in Las Vegas
A broken spring is the most common garage door failure in the valley, and the one most worth doing right. Wrong-size or single-spring 'specials' fail fast. We size and install it correctly the first time.
Overview
Garage Door Spring Repair
Snapped torsion or extension spring? We carry the right springs and replace them same-day, in pairs, the safe way.
A torsion spring is rated for cycles, not years. A standard 10,000-cycle spring on a door you open four times a day lasts roughly seven years. Las Vegas heat and dust shorten that. When one spring goes, the other is usually close behind, which is why we replace both and offer higher 20,000 and 25,000-cycle springs that last far longer for a small upcharge. Spring work is the most dangerous garage door job, the spring stores enormous tension, so this is not a safe DIY.
Common problems we solve
- Loud bang, then the door won't lift at all
- A visible gap in the coiled spring above the door
- Opener strains, hums, or lifts the door a few inches and stops
- Door feels extremely heavy by hand
- Door drops fast when you try to lower it manually
What to expect
When we arrive
- We confirm spring type (torsion or extension) and the right size for your door's weight and height.
- We replace springs in pairs so the second one doesn't snap a week later and cost you a second visit.
- We use the correct wind and tension, then rebalance the door so the opener isn't overworked.
- We test safety reverse and lubricate the new springs before we leave.

Spring Repair FAQs
How much does garage door spring replacement cost in Las Vegas?
A standard pair of torsion springs runs about $250 to $450 installed, and heavy-duty 25,000-cycle springs are roughly $350 to $550. Price depends on door size and spring rating. We quote the flat price before we start.
Should I replace one spring or both?
Both. They wear at the same rate, so if one snapped, the other is near the end too. Replacing both saves you a second service call within weeks and keeps the door balanced. We always quote a pair, with the honest reason why.
Beware the '$49 spring special', is that real?
No. That price is bait. Once the tech arrives, the job mysteriously becomes $700 to $1,200 with 'required' bearings, cables, and inspection fees. We do not play that game. You get one honest flat price on the phone or on arrival, and that is what you pay.
How long does a garage door last on one set of springs?
Springs are rated in cycles. A standard 10,000-cycle spring lasts about 5 to 7 years at average use. Open and close the door a lot, or run a big heavy door, and it is less. Upgrading to 20,000 or 25,000-cycle springs can roughly double the life for a small upcharge.
Can I just use the garage door opener to lift it with a broken spring?
No, and please don't. The opener is built to guide the door, not lift its full weight. Without the spring, forcing the opener burns out the motor or strips the gears, turning a spring repair into a spring plus opener repair. Call us instead.
Is replacing a torsion spring something I can do myself?
We strongly advise against it. A wound torsion spring holds enough force to break bones. Every year DIYers end up in the ER over this. The parts also have to be sized and wound precisely. It is genuinely a job for someone with the right bars and experience.
Torsion springs vs extension springs, what's the difference?
Torsion springs mount on a bar above the door and are the modern standard, smoother and safer. Extension springs run along the tracks on each side and are common on older Las Vegas homes. We service both and can often upgrade an older door to a torsion setup.
Why do springs break more often in Las Vegas?
Heat cycling and dust. Daytime garage temps swing hard, which fatigues the steel faster, and fine desert dust works into the coils and bearings. Annual lubrication and a tune-up meaningfully extend spring life out here.
How can I tell which spring broke?
Look at the spring above the door. A broken torsion spring shows a clear two to three inch gap in the coil. For extension springs, you will see a stretched or separated spring along one track. If both look intact but the door is dead, the problem may be elsewhere, and we will find it.
Do you carry springs on the truck or do I have to wait for an order?
We stock the common sizes on the truck, so the large majority of spring jobs are done the same visit. Oversized or specialty doors occasionally need a specific spring, and we will tell you the timeline up front if so.
Will a new spring make my door quieter?
It helps, especially paired with fresh lubrication. A lot of the noise people blame on springs is actually dry bearings and worn rollers, so we often suggest a quick tune-up alongside the spring to get the door running quiet and smooth.
Do you warranty the springs you install?
Yes. The springs carry a manufacturer warranty, and our labor is backed by a workmanship warranty. If a spring we installed fails early, we make it right.
